Quick Tip: New Process for Sound Processor Replacement Orders

Share

Practices offering cochlear implants and bone conduction solutions are significantly expanding access to hearing care. As a result, more patients than ever are reaching the stage in their hearing journey where they consider a sound processor replacement.  We know patients are approaching your clinic with a need for new technology, and as Cochlear continues to innovate, these replacement sound processors are even more useful and attractive to recipients.

Did you know Letters of Medical Necessity are no longer required for sound processor replacement orders?  Instead, we are now requesting you send clinical chart notes plus a generic prescription to process an order for a replacement sound processor.

As a result, we have updated our documentation process for replacement sound processors to help simplify, streamline and expedite this process for you and your recipients. Clinicians who participated in a recent Pilot Program of the new process reported that ease of ordering improved by 43% and processing time decreased by 24%.1

Learn what these changes are and how to get ahead of them while earning CEUs through this 30-minute on-demand Audiology Online course.
