The purpose of this article is to provide professionals with:

  • Insight on Cochlear’s bilingual initiatives
  • Information regarding the important role culturally competent messaging plays in the hearing healthcare industry
  • Provide Spanish-language resources to support your patients at every stage of their journey

We take pride in building strong relationships with our customers, ensuring they are seen, heard, and feel valued. We recognize that messaging significantly impacts hearing healthcare education and improves health literacy for all candidates and recipients. This article examines the ways in which Cochlear is serving Spanish-speaking patients.

Bilingual Initiatives at Cochlear:

Central to our bilingual initiatives at Cochlear is the recognition that culture fosters meaningful engagement, which enhances patient confidence and improves accessibility. Our Bilingual Program initiatives focus on three main pillars:

  • Lead the way by implementing cultural integration at all stages of the patient journey
  • Transform the way people of diverse cultures learn about, understand, and treat hearing loss
  • Expand awareness and accessibility

Our goal is to support patients of diverse backgrounds and strive for cultural competency across all support services and provide resources to enhance the patient experience.

Cochlear has expanded its dynamic marketing team to include experts with knowledge in both hearing healthcare and Latino culture. This intentional approach includes development of Spanish-first content, designed by professionals who understand the uniqueness of the culture. This approach addresses existing gaps in hearing health disparities by educating Spanish-speaking audiences about hearing loss and their technology options.

Culturally Competent Messaging:

At Cochlear, our culturally competent messaging integrates professionals who are experts in both audiology and marketing.  This has allowed us to pioneer creative content development to enhance patient understanding of crucial hearing health information. Our emphasis on cultural relatability beyond language provides patients with a safe space to discuss the effects of hearing loss on aspects that matter most, such as family, community, quality of life, and music enjoyment. Cochlear offers customized patient support, addressing new topics for our community, including the importance of hearing health, treatment, hearing outcomes, and mental health.
